Inspiration {how a photo can change things}
A facebook friend shared this blog post earlier in the week and I just found myself revisiting it day after day. Sylvia's story was one pure inspiration and I love how photography helped remind her of the strong, confident sexy woman she is; inside and out. All this was just to much to keep to myself. Sylvia's strength and inner beauty just shines in these gorgeous boudoir photos... Read her story and see her photos here --> Perspective EyeHere is a little taste of what you will find:
"However, the nights when I stared into the mirror and felt extremely unattractive, he wasn’t there. He left before chemo even started and that made me sad. In his place, India Arie’s “I am Not My Hair” had found it’s way onto my iPod and her lyrics provided me comfort for those tearful nights where “breast cancer and chemotherapy” had taken away “my sexy.”
Arie’s lyrics blared from my headphones telling me that I was “not my hair” and I was not “this skin,” rather, I was “a soul that lives within.” I realized I needed to re-define what sexy meant to me. Yes, sexy had a lot to do with how I looked on the outside, but I began to realize it had a lot more to do with how I felt on the inside.
Today I could pass you on the street and you would never know that I had cancer. You would never think that a year and a half ago, I was completely bald and could barely stand to look at myself in the mirror.
When Michelle had asked if I’d like to do a session with herself and Gabe, I said yes, not giving much thought to why I was doing the shoot, other than it would be fun. As the shoot unfolded I felt beautiful, I felt like a woman, and I felt sexy once again.
When Gabe sent me pictures to view, I realized that he had captured more than just a picture. His photos celebrated how resilient my body has been, a body that has been pumped full of toxins, swelled to shocking proportions, and yet has returned to me.
Here’s to bringing sexy back, inside and out." - Sylvia Soo

HEY is for Horses!
Hey Everyone! Thanks sooo much for stopping by the new blog. It has been long over due, but finally it is here. I think you will find that the blog is much easier to use, has bigger photos and, well, is much prettier than the Facebook notes I was using previously to post new photos and stories. I hope you will find the whole thing is a feast for your eyes, o my that is two terrible play-on-words in one short post, I believe that I may need to refrain from posting in the morning, haha. Anyways back on topic! It has been an uphill battle making my website and blogs as I am really not very computer saavy, but I think I am quite happy now with what I have. I am sure it will be constantly evolving as learn more and find out what I am doing is dated and lame, but for now! I hope you enjoy the new format and enjoy some fun new posts I should have coming at you! Starting with the one right before this one. I would have to call that shoot somewhat of an impromptu shoot. But even though it was last minute, I love what came out of it. And I think you should check it out and let us know what you think =) Thanks again for coming! ENJOY!!Truly,Karmenp.s. If you have any recommendations, or have something you think would make the blog and/or other sites more user friendly I would love to hear from you and then attempt to fix it =) And if you like what you see, don't forget to follow me!p.p.s Don't forget to stop by desireboudoir.wordpress.com to see my boudoir blog!o and p.p.p.s. You will notice there are some rotating images at the top of the blog, these are linked to some of my favorite posts that got left behind since I was unable to move all my Facebook posts without actually re-writing all of them. So feel free to click around to see more, lets call them hidden posts that will be remaining on Facebook.
& Everything Nice
I love it when a photo tells a story. And I love that to each person that story is different. When I showed up in Lacombe at the Antique Store '& Everything Nice' I did not know what to expect. I had never seen the location and had never met the models, well except of course for my sister Rebecca. I am glad that I didn't; because this meant I had no preconception of what the photos were going to be like. And I don't think this is what I would have imagined. Check it out for yourself, what story do they tell you? ENJOY!!Truly,Karmen

the PROPOSAL {a.sneakpeek}
And very much to Joni's surprise, Jordan was about to express that love in a way she didn't see coming. It was such an amazing and powerful moment. A happy tear or two were shed; Jo and I almost got a little caught up in the moment ourselves but managed to keep it together =).
Needless to say the rest of the shoot was filled with huge smiles, hugs, kisses and sweet words.
Jordan and Joni, it was an absolute honour to be a part of such an amazing day. You are such stunning couple; so clearly suited for each other. Jo and I just chatted the whole way home about how perfect the day was. And Jordan you totally rocked that proposal!! I wish you guys all the best in your future together =) I can't wait to show you the rest of the photos. ENJOY!!!Truly,KarmenAs always thanks so much for coming Jo! Couldn't have done it without ya ♥
What is the BEST Christmas Gift you have ever recieved {or given}
Can you believe it!!! Christmas is only a month and a half away!! The malls are playing jingle bells, decorations are up on the street posts, and thank goodness there hasn't been much snow so far. Anyone can see it, the feeling of Christmas is definitely starting to surround us.And here is something cool that I am offering this year as a neat gift idea; gift certificates for photo sessions!!! Something definitely unique, and the recipient certainly won't be able to shake the box haha. Speaking of unique gifts, what is the best thing you have ever received {or given} for Christmas?? Let's hear all your awesome Christmas stories!!! {your allowed to be sappy ♥}
☼ Tree Hugger {maybe?} ☼ ♥
Nobodies perfect and I would be lying if I said that I am doing everything I possibly can to reduce my impact on my environment; how many times have I got to the grocery store and realized I forgot my cloth bags or drove when I could of walked. But, I do make a conscious effort to try! Which is why I spend tons of time looking for more eco-friendly ways to run my business.Some of the things you will be happy to know that are already in effect is paperless information & price lists and online proofing galleries, both of which are traditionally printed. Other things, such as the packaging you receive your products in, are made from recyclable materials; all personal notes are written on paper bought through a Fair Trade Company {organized social movement and market-based approach that aims to help producers in developing countries obtain better trading conditions and promote sustainability}. And the list goes on. The point is that a lot of effort is put into delivering a product that is both excellent quality and has a minimum impact on the world we depend on.For this reason I am extremely excited to start offering 'MAGNOLIA ALBUMS'! I think that WMD {wild magnolia design} truly describes it best....."A handmade blend of nature and luxury, the Magnolia Album is currently the only environmentally friendly flush mount album in the world. Each book is assembled without the use of large machines, by hand, in a small Santa Monica studio. Cover and endpaper options are meticulously selected for their durability, sustainability, minimal environmental impact, and beauty. The Magnolia Album is also the only environmentally friendly album currently available with completely archival quality papers, inks, and binding materials.......... undoubtedly the first of its kind."Wow, sounds pretty good right?!? I thinks so! Let me know if you want to know more , or if you have any ideas on how to make Karmen Meyer Photography more eco-friendly, I would love some suggestions =) In the meantime, here are some photos of the new albums! ENJOY!!Truly,Karmen
100% raw silk luxury cover options. Although silk is famous for its rich toning, luxurious feel, and incredible durability, it is a little known fact that silk is also one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics on the market. This is mostly due to its incredible sustainability, as the caterpillars spinning the silk feed on mulberry bushes, which is one of the fastest-growing and renewable plants in the world. Additionally, the raw silk we use is not heavily processed, making for an organic, minimal-impact and renewable material that also looks gorgeous on an album cover.
Organic Vintage covers boast 100% hemp canvas printed with a special transfer process involving archival quality inks to produce a stunning effect on your photographs.
